Philippine’s Secretary of Foreign Affairs Perfecto Rivas Yasay Jr. has confirmed news that broke out regarding a new visa policy by the United Kingdom for Filipinos.
According to him, it’s a new opportunity that has been offered to the good people of Philippines and believes it’s not going to be abused.
The newly appointed British Prime Minister, Theresa May recently announced a new visa policy for 3 countries namely Philippines, South Africa and Rwanda
Under the new policy holders of passports of the 3 countries can travel to United Kingdom without visa for up to a period of 6 months. Under the same agreement, citizens of the 3 countries are eligible to apply for a Tier 5 (Youth Mobility Scheme) visa if you’re aged 18 to 30. The Youth Mobility Scheme allows eligible applicants to live and work in the UK for a 24 months period. Applicants under the scheme are required to have a savings of £1,890. Visa fees for the Scheme has also been waived the 3 countries.
Persons who abuse the opportunity by overstaying in the UK would be sanctioned with a 2 year travel ban.
