Museveni Points Accusing Fingers; Opposition Influenced Athletes to Disgrace Uganda at the Olympics

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni claims he has evidence to show that the opposition leader, Kizza Besigye is behind the woeful performance of the country’s Olympic team poor performance at the just ended Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

“How can a patriotic citizen who has tried several times to become the president of a country influence athletes to perform poorly? I have hardcore video evidence which shows Besigye dolling out envelopes with US dollars, asking the athletes to deliberately underperform to make my government unpopular. I have forwarded the video to General Kayihura (Inspector General of Police) to deal with it” he told our reporter.

“I believe the police and the courts will deal with both Besigye and the athletes because that is criminal. I don’t understand why Stephen Kiprotich, an Olympic champion stoop so low and allow politics to influence him to lose not only his title but to disgrace himself with the 14 position” he added.

“They will come and meet us here and we will definitely show them where power lies,” he concluded.

The Olympic team is expected to arrive on Thursday, August 25.
