With only 2 days to the end of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, South Africa is topping the medal list. Wayde van Niekerk from South Africa is one of the few athletes to set a new world records in this year’s Summer Olympics after smashing the 17 year old men’s 400m record.
South Africa tops the African medal list with 9 medals in total comprising 1 Gold, 6 Silver and 6 Bronze medals. Kenya follows with 8 medals; Ethiopia has 5, Egypt 3, Tunisia 2, and Morocco with 1. The rest of Africa has zero. South Africa is likely to stretch the lead by the close of the Olympic Games.
